ABSTRAK

Hydrogel merupakan sediaan topikal dengan cara dioleskan pada kulit. Ekstrak
batang Ginseng Jawa mengandung flavonoid, fenolik dan alkaloid yang berperan
dalam membantu perawatan kulit dan penyembuhan luka. Penelitian ini bertujuan
untuk memformulasikan hydrogel ekstrak batang Ginseng Jawa dengan konsentrasi
0,1%, 0,2%, 0,3% dan basis polimer HEC, carbopol 940, dan xanthan gum dengan
konsentrasi 0,5%, 1%, dan 1,5% serta mengevaluasi sediaan hydrogel. Uji pH yang
dihasilkan yaitu (4,57-6,88). Uji homogenitas seluruh sediaan dari ketiga formula
yaitu homogen. Uji daya sebar yang dihasilkan polimer HEC, carbopol, xanthan
gum berada dalam rentang luas area (18,38-67,04 cm2

). Uji daya lekat yang
dihasilkan seluruh formula memenuhi syarat ≥1 detik. Uji viskositas diperoleh
berada dalam rentang standar (3.000-50.000 cPs), kecuali pada HEC F1 dan
xanthan gum F1 yang tidak sesuai standar (1.266-2.200). Analisis statistik ANOVA
menunjukkan bahwa variasi konsentrasi polimer berpengaruh signifikan (p<0,05)
terhadap karakteristik fisik sediaan hydrogel. Formula optimal yang memenuhi
persyaratan evaluasi hydrogel adalah basis HEC pada F2.
